Meet the owner: Skye

Hi! My name is Sigourney Skye Shutler. I am so excited you are considering our home for your childcare needs!

I’m a wife of eight years and a mother of two. Evelyn is seven years-old and a First Grader and Gabriel is four years-old and in the ECE program. They both attend Briarwood Elementary. We do life on fun mode.

Background

I’m native to the Pacific Northwest and grew up in Anacortes, WA.

Being the oldest of four children, I found my calling at a young age. My first job was as an assistant teacher, then I began tutoring elementary school children in mathematics and then later I tutored at Skagit Valley Community College in Physics. I became an extended care supervisor at a Montessori preschool while getting my Bachelor’s in Psychology at Western Washington University. I moved to Seattle to work on my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling and Child, Couple & Family Therapy.

I fell into career nannying during this time and was blessed to co-raise children for families in the Bellevue area for over a decade.

My passions are my own two children, my husband, American Sign Language, hiking, singing, photography, dance, reading, nature, tea, and staying off of screens.

Meet A New Day Learning House

Indoor (960 square feet dedicated space):

Rainbow Room……….. individual activities, math, science and culture.

Cloud Room………..…….art, crafts, large group activities and cooking.

Sensory Room………tactile learning, quiet activities-transitions to a dark room for nap. 

Polka Dot Room…………..reading, dress-up and make believe play.

Outdoor (half-acre):

Playground………………..3 swings and a slide

Airplane Teeter–totter …….with room for 9 children

Sandboxes………………..the Pirate box and the Flower box

Car Lot…………………4000 square feet of asphalt for riding toys

Canopy Room ……………10’ x 12’ canopy with furniture
